As an IT support engineer (Microsoft Windows), you and your team are responsible for the maintenance, support and enhancements of our IT-infrastructure, it’s services and applications and their stability, continuity, costs and security.
You will be the ‘owner’ to get issues solved and thereby to bring users up to speed again from an IT-perspective. Therefore you know the IT-environment from A to Z and can come up with the best enhancements, optimizations and improvements. You are the user’s voice within our department to further professionalize as a department. You and your team are a major stakeholder for the cloud engineering team that make infrastructural changes in the cloud.
On the other hand, you have the permission to make changes to the configuration of our IT-environment yourself. Permissions our end users do not have, which means you bear great responsibility on continuity and the costs of our IT-environment.
By executing the IT asset management you know what assets are possessed by the IT-department, who is using what hardware and on what position the assets are in it’s life-cycle. You will pro-actively announce hardware replacements and therefore cooperate with the IT-manager by setting up the budget and hardware replacement program for next year.
You are aware of the licenses we use and their costs, when they expire and how we can setup efficient processes to manage the licenses of our users. This prevents unnecessary costs and guarantees we comply to the legal use of our software components within the required boundaries of use of our end users.
Together with your team and the cloud engineers you will functionally and technically shape our monitoring system on which we can monitor our IT-environment in real-time. Therefor we can proactively act on threats like possible outages, expiring certificates, storage or other capacity shortages and unexpected and unwanted extensive costs.
